#Shelfie Feature with Chicago Literary Hall of Fame

It was a delight to be featured with Chicago Literary Hall of Fame on their #Shelfie project. Is there anything more fun than seeing a writer’s bookshelves? I’m so guilty of zooming in to see what’s on someone’s bookcase, nightstand, side table, etc. Bonus points if you can recognize a book’s unique spine (ahem Meg Wolitzer, Angie Thomas) without needing to zoom!

I think it’s important to add that this lovely space is my home office but for six years, this functioned as a storage closet and I wrote among the boxes of Christmas decor, blenders, food processors, flower vases, and bins filled with high school yearbooks. Before I lived in this house, I wrote at my kitchen counter on an Ikea stool. Writing happens wherever it needs to happen!

That being said, I really like this space and I like that it holds my very best pals (books). The wall color reminds me of an Arizona sunset. And yes, there are stacks of books all over the floor (that’s just how a #writerlife works).

(Scroll around their Insta to see more great #shelfie features- dogs! twinkle lights! book trees!)

Some fun things to spot: my daughter’s mini-Chase from Paw Patrol, the ‘Pleasure Pleasure Pleasure’ art print I created, an unbothered Boston Terrier, feet that need a pedicure, a whole lot of Curtis Sittenfeld, and a whole lot of SNL memoirs.
