A few fun things: botanicals make great backdrops in photos. Pictured above is me sweating and cursing while taking in the shade of a magnolia tree in a delightful Kentucky heat wave. Seriously, I had a fantastic writing residency in Paducah over the summer but that heat was a punishment.
Also, happy Halloween and all the spooky things! Tis my favorite time of year and I could not resist buying this skele-dog which looked curiously like Ted, the Boston Terrier statue in my house.
I’m delighted to juggle a myriad of wonderful things at the moment: script edits for new film(!), a story performance coming up at Writers Theatre in Glencoe, a Lit-in-the-real-world experience visiting my son’s 8th grade classroom, and a workshop coming up on Tuesday, October 14th at noon on Zoom (can’t make it? The Zoom will be recorded!).
I’ll be teaching all about the art of the author bio and author photo, and how this pairing can form something seriously dynamic that can garner prizes, accolades, and opportunities. Join me!
Lastly, what should I be for Halloween this year? I tend to err on the side of ridiculous. Last year I was the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man while my daughter went as a ghostbuster.
Costume ideas welcome!
One Good Thing: Spooky SZN means the return of my FAVORITE Peeps: S’mores! Yes, I’m clogging my arteries with absolute delight! What is your go to Halloween candy?
